Welcome Back!
It was an exciting first few months of the year with the Motor Culture crew covering a host of events ranging from bike club anniversaries, sportbiker gatherings and even a trip to Sepang International Circuit to catch the SIC-AAIM 2007 Malaysian Motocross Championships.
On home soil we got ourselves to a dirty frenzy watching local riders hammer it out on their motocross bikes at MSSC’s major events - the first Enduro event held on Singapore’s mainland after 14 years! After a weekend of muddy Mayhem, the club also organised another motocross carnival on the sandy dunes of Marina Country Club. Watch out for the sandstorms!
Gracing the cover of this issue of MCA is Allan Woo, a true-blue biker arriving for the day’s shoot on his CBR600F. A quick glance at Honda’s new 2007 CBR600RR and he was off like a rocket, fireblazing up roads on the west coast. We barely had time to take photos. Not to be outdone by this celebrity biker, Channel U, with the organising support of MSSC, launched the first round of Singapore’s first city motocross mini-bike challenge at the heart of Orchard Road, pitting celebrities and Channel U Artistes in various teams for all-out mini and dirt bike racing. That’s what you call X in the City!
Road safety is an important issue that we would still like to address in Singapore, especially with the increasing death toll of motorcycles. One way in which riders can help protect themselves is to improve their skills on the road. Driving centers like the SSDC provide further training to improve motorcycling skills for avid riders and this is indeed a good step to reduce the number of motorcyclists fatalities on the road. Check out our section of SSDC’s Advance Safety Riding Course available for all riders.
Enjoy this issue of Motor Culture Asia and we look to your continued support (keep subscribing!). Keep the magazine going and the passion alive. Keep the wind in your face and the sun on your back.
Enjoy riding in 2007!
