MCA     Volume 2 Issue 8

Editor's Note

I have a couple of confessions to make. When me and my namesake Blacksun first started Motor Culture in 2006 with our publisher Jeffrey from Ethan White we didn’t really have a clue what to expect from this industry. We didn’t know anyone and we sure as hell didn’t really bother to make ourselves known. We just set out to make Motor Culture happen. And we are delighted to say that with the 8th issue of MCA, the culture is still happening (and we are still relatively unknown). Thanks to all of you.

Initially all we wanted to do with the magazine was the ride a lot, go for free touring trips and watch racing up close and test brand new super bikes free of charge. But as we started to know more people and riders in the industry it opened our eyes to many new aspects of motorcycling in general and many more challenges for the team to continue keeping Motor Culture updated and real. In fact the more we mixed with the mix, the more we saw of the passion that bikers have when they are involved in making things happen for riders everywhere. Groups and individuals such as Team 27 and the guys who brought you events such as Big Bikes @ Millenia Walk and the Singapore Big Bike Fest 2007 at Suntec City. Words cannot describe the passion, effort and commitment taken by these groups and riders to make the culture happen on a big scale. The support from brands like Yamaha, Harley Davidson, Mah Motors, Moto Guzzi, Sepang, Motorworld and many others is also beyond measure. I will always keep in my heart the words that were spoken to me in front of both event organisers, “Because of your magazine (MCA), more and more riders, groups and organisations are becoming aware of how much motorcycling in Singapore has to offer...and they are actively participating!”

The selfless actions of other bikers and companies also enlightened us. Boon Siew Honda and their efforts in conjunction with BBDC to advocate safe riding to the masses saw large number of participants attending the comprehensive Ride Safe programs.

Fun, passion, fairness, simple common sense and sincerity from the heart will continue to be the guiding principles of this magazine. Sure sometimes we miss the mark and review or say things you don’t want to hear or have no interest in. But we are glad that you have the empathy to bear and continue supporting us because you probably know it in your heart the way motor culture works, if it is not about you, it’s about the rider next to you. Motor Culture will always be there for everyone.

I don’t know how long this dream will last but lets make it our dream. This issue we are not going to ask you for your support for Motor Culture. We know it is already there.

Thank you and see you all at 3NCR and MotoGP Sepang!
