We are confident you’ll be enjoying this 2008’s first issue of Motor Culture Asia after the fine accolades we received from our supporters and readers for the last issue of MCA. We went all out on that one producing what many have openly stated as the finest local motorcycle publication to date in Singapore’s motorcycle history. We are trying to outdo that claim with this latest issue of MCA.
Speaking of history, Motor Culture Asia is now the official magazine for the Tuas motorsports circuit which is poised to start a new chapter in Singapore motorcycle sports with their inaugural MX race in January. Catch a glimpse of the action and know just a little bit more about the circuit in our feature article “Ten things you should know abut Circuit@Tuas!”
On the Asian frontier MCA travels to Penang Malaysia for the exclusive coverage of the Yamaha Asian Cup. Our local boys did Singapore proud by their professional attitude and conduct at the races. With the new local tarmac track soon to be completed at Tuas MCA is sure Singapore will eventually see potential championship-winning racers emerging to compete in the Asian Cup series.
We also welcome Peter Grinsted into our riding ranks as Motor Culture Asia’s chief technical and product consultant. Last we heard of Peter was that he was in Barcelona testing out Pirelli’s new Diablo Rosso tyre launch, and giving Motor Culture Asia the opportunity to rub shoulders (not handlebars hopefully) with the guys from Fast Bikes, Superbike and T.W.O.’s ex-GP racer Neil MacKenzie, on test bikes such as a ‘07 Tuono, R1100S, ZX6R, RSV Factory and an R1. All in day’s work for Peter! Special thanks this time to Pirelli Singapore for inviting Motor Culture Asia to the event. Don’t forget to catch Peter’s review of the Ohlins 46 HRCLB on a Triumph Speed Triple in this issue.
Back on home soil we feature BikeAsia’s motorcycle design carnival at the Temasek Polytechnic, Singapore Bikes Forums’ anniversary party at Changi and similar events by bike clubs such as RSM Team and Mistri Bikers.
We sincerely hope you continue to support MCA and our efforts to present a local view and flavor of motorcycling culture. Our strong engagement with other motorcycle communities in the region will continue to keep the passion and spirit alive for the local riders and even attract more of the Singapore public to take up motorcycling! With continually rising fuel costs, motorcycling does present a viable solution for personal transport on this small island of ours. With the new races currently planned at the Tuas circuit and the Changi track along the way, motorcycle sports will soon ignite the passion of many local riders. Not to mention the cool new and exotic motorcycles that will be tempting your wallet in the next few pages!
So enjoy….
