Bike Asia @ EXPO!
Singapore Expo April 10-13 2008
2008 will usher in the explosion of the region’s 2-wheeled industry as Asia’s largest motorcycle and bicycle exhibition looks set to take-off in the grandest manner at the Singapore Expo in April 2008.
BikeAsia 2008, The First International Trade Show and Exhibition of Bicycles, Motorcycles and Accessories in Asia, will occupy 20,000 square metres at the Singapore Expo and will not only be the ideal east-meets-west opportunity for motorcycle and bicycle trade manufacturers around the world to gather, but will also serve as a tasty treat for local and international bike enthusiasts and the general Singapore public to see the very latest motorcycles and bicycles available in the region.
With motorcycle sales in Asia accounting for 85 percent of global figures and Asia manufacturing 90 percent of the world’s motorcycle output, expect to see distributors and manufacturers from China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, America and Europe participating in the show.
BikeAsia 2008 is the brainchild of Mr. Roberto Fabbri, bike enthusiast and Managing Director of BikeAsia Pte Ltd, with the support of Constantino Ruggiero, the director of EICMA, which organises the Milan International Exhibition of Bicycles and Motorcycles, the world’s largest show of its kind.
Motor Culture Asia meets up with BikeAsia’s Roberto Fabbri for an exclusive preview of ideas and events leading up to BikeAsia 2008.
Roberto Fabbri, “BikeAsia 2008 is all about bringing everything new and exciting to the region’s motorcycling and bicycling industry - new concepts, new lifestyles and new ways to appreciating two-wheelers. Trade visitors and consumers go to exhibitions to discover new things, not something that is moved from the showroom floor to the exhibition hall. With BikeAsia 2008, we hope to consolidate and exhibit the very best of both motorcycling and bicycling industries in a country and location that is ideal for everyone. Singapore does not manufacture motorcycles, and with the in-place infrastructure, language and accessibility factors I am sure that similar to the couple of good shows in Europe, BikeAsia 2008 will be the one good show in Asia.
As more and more European and Asian motorcycle, bicycle and component manufacturers realise the phenomenal growth of these industries in Asia, major manufacturers will see that their participation in BikeAsia 2008 go a long way in paving the future of motorcycling and bicycling in the Asian region.
With BikeAsia 2008 we not only reach out to manufacturers through international motorcycle and trade magazines but pave the way for the development of Singapore’s motorcycling and bicycling community as well. So if dealers and distributors wonder if we are truly attracting the bulk of the local two-wheeled population we are! BikeAsia will initiate three local key events supporting BikeAsia 2008 and we hope that distributors and dealers in Singapore will also realise that the show is out to extend the concept of biking rather than just the idea of selling bikes and accessories which any local roadshow can do. BikeAsia 2008 will bring tremendous exposure to the regional and local community as customers come to such a show expecting it.”
BikeAsia Pte Ltd will organise local events in Singapore leading up to BikeAsia 2008 such as “Count My Wheels” starting in March 2008 which aims to pull together the fraternity of motorcyclists and cyclists in two separate events around the Padang to show the “numbers” and “significance” of cycling and motorcycling enthusiasts in Singapore and to provide entertainment to tourists and local alike. It is the showcase of the passion that cuts across race, income, age and often involves the entire family.
“Future My Ride” running from January to March will communicate to the market amongst the tertiary students the appreciation of motorcycle technology as well as of innovative pedal vehicles to eliminate pollution. There will be scheduled competitions and roadshows around the theme of “dream motorbike model” which will also include messages on road safety by the Traffic Police.
Last but not least and reaching out to the “roots” of the local motorcycling and cycling communities will be the “Ride My Soul” events to create a sense of continuity and of emotions evoked in our lives by bicycles and motorcycles. The events will have a mass appeal and entrench how two wheelers are a part of everyone’s life. BikeAsia will work closely with the Community Clubs and capture the soul and spirit of riding with film and photographs competitions.
Motor Culture Asia is Singapore’s official motorcycle magazine for BikeAsia 2008 and will continue to support BikeAsia in their quest to set a new chapter and standard in Singapore’s motorcycling and cycling history and increase the awareness and appreciation of both sports.
