If you had your own vision of motorcycling what would it be? For the future of two-wheeled road menaces read our preview of the new Terminator Salvation movie and catch a glimpse of the Mototerminator bike before it hits the big screen. Killer bikes that terminate pesky pedestrians and not the riders themselves? That’ll be the day.
Our vision of motorcycling innovation takes an interesting twist as two new brands deeply associated with cutting-edge designs have arrived to our shores. Take a look at the Spyder roadster, the coolest three-wheeled litre-bike launched onto the Singapore streets. Big, beautiful and high on safety, the Spyder is a style winner and head-turner on the streets. If your preference is still on two-wheels, nothing beats the Bimota Tesi 3D with its radical suspension system never seen before on any bikes. Enjoy our review of this exotic ride.
For a broad view of the futuristic bikes and components, we have BikeAsia 2009 to thank. The grandest motorcycle and bicycle exhibition in Singapore returned with vengeance this year, showcasing an excellent spread of the latest Italian and Austrian marvels from Aprilia, Moto Guzzi, MV Agusta, Ducati and KTM.
The Malaysia Super Series is coming into view again and this round we report the fantastic win of Singapore’s very own Yasuhiro Kuhara, sponsored rider of Team HKL Racing at the Sepang International Circuit. We also catch up with the race team of Motoworld Singtrek, consisting of various championship winners from past seasons. The racers are out to prove a point that they are not one-off wonders and will definitely do well in the full season of the MSS 2009.
Two major biker events in Thailand are covered in this issue – the Pattaya Bike Fest and Phuket Bike Week. Enjoy yourselves with our coverage photos and biker stories inside!
Last but not least, we ride a whole range of worthy steeds from the ultra-cool chopper Harley-Davidson Rocker, the adventurous BMW F800GS and the dark and sexy Yamaha Midnight Star.
What to look forward to in the coming months of Motor Culture Asia? Watch out for Singapore’s first Women Riders Nite and the Red Bull X-Fighters exhibition tour coming to Singapore. Enjoy.
